www.spywarenews.org – For years, a lot of people have been finding it hard to choose for the best antivirus. There are many antiviruses available in the internet but most of them are costly and some have to be downloaded each year. Isn’t it a relief to know that Microsoft’s new Window8 will come with built-in antivirus?

Millions of people are using computers each day. Now that the new Window8 will come with built-in antivirus, people won’t have to look for the best antivirus available online. It will come with the packaged of the functions offered by the Microsoft Security Essentials. This means that Window 8 antivirus will offer a protection against viruses, malware, firewall, parental controls, and other malicious software.
When it was confirmed that Microsoft new Window8 will come with built-in antivirus, there many people reacted and said that that it will greatly affect antivirus industries. Some say that these companies may file complaints with legal authorities. Moreover, it could create a security monoculture with a single application that will secure majority of systems. When this single application is attacked, it could create a major problem.

A lot of consumers will surely be happy with the new Window8 that will come with built-in antivirus. Indeed, Microsoft has come a long way in providing consumers a good quality of service. With Microsoft’s new Window 8, consumers will surely love surfing, downloading, and inserting flash drives without worrying their computers to have viruses.

www.spywarenews.org – Smartphones have been popular technological gadgets since the launching of the Apple iPhone in 2007. They have features that fuse computer and a telephone (or sometimes TV) as one. These communication devices have become a vital staple for the modern culture of the 21st century. Internet search giant Google has joined the smartphone market through collaboration with the Open Handset Alliance, which resulted to the creation of a smartphone operating system (OS) called Android.

This OS applies a modified variation of the Linux kernel, which makes it secure to hold various applications, wherein there are more than 150,000 of them. However, some of these apps are capable of harming the operating system by gathering information like personal data such as credit card numbers, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, and even social security numbers. One of them is a text message Trojan known as Trojan-SMS.AndroidOS.FakePlayer.a, which has impacted various mobile devices. This malicious software appeared in August 2010 as a harmless media player, although if installed, the application sends text messages without warning and consent of the users. This has affected Russian Android smartphone users, who lost money through this malicious app. In March 2011, Google has revoked 58 malicious programs from the Android Market, wherein they have Trojans that were kept in pirated versions of genuine apps. Because of this, software security firms like Kaspersky, AVG, and Symnatec have developed solutions to function as antivirus for Android OS for smartphones.

AVG Antivirus for Android OS – AVG has recently released various antivirus applications for Android phones at Safer Internet Day 2011 on February 8, 2011. First off is the AVG Anti-Virus Free. This software inspects emails, SMS and websites for suspicious software and can monitor applications for malware prior to downloading them to the handset. Anti-Virus Free also detects your lost or stole phone through Google Maps using its Phone Locator feature. You can also backup your phone numbers, call logs, and messages to your SD card, although this feature is currently in Beta. The Task Killer feature eliminates phone tasks that slow down or freeze your smartphone. This antivirus system can be installed for free its security software AVG Mobilation. AVG Anti-Virus Free has its standard counterpart, the AVG Anti-Virus Pro. This software is a major improvement of the Anti-Virus Free, which has similar security features, although the Anti-Virus Pro has an actual VIP tech support.

Hopefully, these options of antivirus for Android OS from AVG help you learn about the importance of keeping your phones protected. AVG and Google’s Droid Security is a defensive combination that can keep your smartphones running.

Has your computer been infected with viruses, spyware, adware, or any other forms of malware? After the infection, have you noted that certain files are missing from your Windows environment? Are you unsure where to turn next? If this is the case then it is time to turn to a little data recovery – to get those deleted files back.

In all honesty, most spyware and other forms of malware are simply a nuisance; they bog down your CPU and create constant pop-up ads; however, rarely do they do something as malicious as delete computer files. Yet, there are the occasionally severe infections which do just that. And when this does happen you will need to take one of two different paths (assuming you didn’t take the time to back up your data on a regular basis – which is always the preferable solution to any of these problems).

The first option you have is to send your computer into to a data recovery shop. In this situation, professionals will take a look at your computer and attempt to retrieve whatever files you may have lost. This is truly the best option; however, it can become quite expensive and take quite a bit of time to complete (as you have to send your PC in and wait for them to get it back to you).

The second option you have is to partake in a little bit of do-it-yourself data recovery. In this situation you download a free, fairly easy to use, program from the Internet and attempt to recover those lost files. There are a whole host of options out there; however Recuva and Mini Tool Power Data Recovery, are two of the better options out there. Simply head over to their sites and read their documentation to get a rough idea how to use them.

Before we finish, it is important to remind you that recovering your data is useless if done before your computer is completely void of viruses and other forms of malware. Therefore, make sure to clean your computer of any and all infections (using programs such as Avast, Antivir, MalwareBytes, and the like) before attempting to bring back your files. Furthermore, if you happen to run into these problems try to learn from your mistakes. In the future, always make sure to back up your data on a regular basis. This will prevent needless computing frustration in the future.

Many computer users prefer Kaspersky because of their quality antivirus and internet security suites. Here is a brief Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 review.

System Requirements, File Size, and Licensing
The 2011 suite supports Windows OS from XP to Windows 7 with no additional requirements. File size of its installer is 106.49 MB, which some users might find bulky. This internet security suite is a little costly at $79.95 per year for three PCs and $119.95 for two years.

What is New in Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 Version?

Supports installation on infected PCs

Can use installation CD as a bootable rescue disk

Enhancement through Desktop Security Gadgets

System Watcher feature for on the spot defense against internet threats

Safe Desktop, Safe Run, and Safe Surf feature to block suspicious programs and websites

Allows geo tagging for blocking region-specific contents

They had introduced new tools to ensure that your computer is safe from threats and malicious websites. This set of features compensates for its high cost as well as its bulky file size.

Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware
Its built-in antivirus blocks harmful files by monitoring your HTTP and FTP traffic. One good thing about it is that it instantly blocks potential threats before you can download it from the internet. Other antivirus programs will only block the execution of a harmful file after you downloaded it. Kaspersky Internet Security Suite 2011 will not allow downloading such files, which effectively eliminates the contact between your PC and the harmful file. As a whole, both the antivirus and anti-spyware protection works remarkably well.

Anti-Spam Protection
This is an area where Kaspersky needs improvement. Though it has the capability to distinguish spam from legitimate mails, it sometimes cannot block mails from a blacklisted address. It also failed to block some simulated spam messages and you might need a handful of emails to properly train its anti-spam program.

Parental Control
This is one highlight of the suite. It offers extensive controls and features apart from blocking pornography sites. It allows setting the time when the computer can be used, how long a user can stay logged on, and even blocks internet search of certain words and phrases. However, it does not support remote administration of parental controls as some competitors do.

It is also worth noting that the program has some extras like intelligent firewall and outstanding user interface. There are also many positive Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 review in terms of its added features like Safe Run and Safe Surf.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 provides powerful programs for typical and advanced users. It has top of the line features in protecting your computer except for its built in anti-spam. This suite is one of the best choices that you can have in the market today.

Cybercriminals often focus on subjects presently popular to search on Internet. Users querying the topics click on infected links which result with their internet browser hijacked and malware and adware downloaded instantly.

Internet user should always make sure their pc is protected by active and updated antivirus software before even going online.

Panda Security has released its newest anti-virus developed specifically to defend Apple product Mac OS including the iPod, iPhone and iPad.

Most Mac customers take security too lightly. The fact is, most are quite proud to the fact that they do not run any security at all. As Mac and Apple products usage increases and becomes more common, the risk of viruses raises with it. We’re nearing a tipping point, in which it’ll eventually become financially viable for hacker to focus on their efforts at Mac platform users. Mac isn’t any tougher to break into than the usual Windows PC, the days when you can actually assume that Apple’s products are exempt from harm are gone.

Panda Labs said it has documented about 5,000 strains of malware created particularly to target Apple computers, with around 500 fresh samples each month. This is a small fraction from the 55,000 new threats that reach Panda Labs every day.

Antivirus Software without Throwing a Buck: Some people refuse to spend their hard-earned money over something that can be easily downloaded from the internet for free. As for the protection of your computer, a Free Antivirus Software can also be downloaded. It’s just a matter of choosing your type. Below is a list of some of the top-rated antivirus software in the net in no particular order.

Avira AntiVir Personal Edition offers an excellent protection from viruses, spywares and rootkit threats. It is very light on the resources and works hard in detecting any malware in your system. Some actually say that this is better than almost every other free antivirus program. However, Avira AntiVir does not have web or e-mail scanning capabilities. This feature is only available in the full version, which you have to pay to get. But don’t start looking away yet because the lack of e-mail scanning capability of this software only means it will not warn you beforehand in opening an infected e-mail. If you do open one, the software starts going ballistic over this malware and warns you about it. From there, you can choose what to do with the options offered.

<img src="http://174.120.198.202/~spywa/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/avast.png" alt="Avast" hspace="5" vspace="5" width="150" height="78" align="right" />Avast! Free Antivirus is also one of the better known software today. The virus detection rate is equal with Avira AntiVir. This free antivirus has many, if not the most, features with real-time capabilities including IM, web, e-mail, P2P and network shields, boot-time scanning and behavioral blocker. Like Avira AntiVir, it is also light on the memory.

AVG Antivirus Free Edition is also among the most popular of its genre. It’s widely used by the public due to its good detection rate. However, in recent times, many analysts say that in some way, this software has been left out by the others due to its slow scan speeds. It has also become significantly huge using a large part of the system’s resources.

Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) has outstanding detection rates, especially for rootkits. It is highly regarded for its accuracy and little false positive detection. It is also excellent in removing any existing malware and occupies a small portion of the memory. It is user-friendly and highly suitable for beginner to average users. With minimal user interaction, automatic updates and removal of threats, there’s no need for the user to do things manually with this software. Like AVG, Microsoft Security Essentials has slow scan speed and takes a long time to quarantine a malware. Also, a genuine copy of Windows is necessary for MSE to be installed due to the validation needed for the operating system (OS).

PC Tools AntiVirus Free Edition provides good protection against worms, spywares and viruses like Trojan. It updates the software rapidly and features an IntelliGuard real-time technology. It also has Email Guard to check and scan your e-mails. It deserves a special mention because it was created by the makers of the award-winning Spyware Doctor.

RISING Antivirus Free Edition also protects your computer from all sorts of viruses like Trojan and worms, rootkits and plenty of other malicious programs. The software also monitors files, e-mails, application control and external drives. It also has an embedded scan and self-protection. Active Defense technology with patented virus scanning, cleaning and updating capabilities make the system worth mentioning. It is easy to use. Just install, forget it’s there and do whatever you have to do.

Computer viruses and spyware have become common place as more and more computers connect and communicate with one another. However, not all viruses and spyware are alike. Some are benign; they hide in the background and are nothing more than a minor nuisance. Others are malignant; they create all sorts of problems, everything from freezing your machine to deleting files. Now, what happens if you run into a bunch of the really bad guys? You know, the one’s which immediately inundate your computer with pop-up advertisements once you login. Or the programs which grind your computer to a halt, so much so that you are unable to load, let alone run, your favorite anti-malware package.

One of the best ways, we at Computer Repair Calgary have found, to deal with a computer which has become inundated with computer infections is to boot it into safe mode and then proceed to run several anti-malware applications (such as Avira Antivir, Avast, Superantispyware, or MalwareBytes).

Many computer knowledgeable people are aware of Windows safe mode. For those who are not, safe mode is a special Windows environment in which only basic drivers and software applications are loaded. One of the key features of it is that startup programs (those that are supposed to load and run automatically upon login) are disabled. Consequently, viruses and other malicious code which were configured to run automatically can no longer do so. As a result, when booting in to safe mode, you will often find significantly fewer problems. This does not mean that these problems do not still exist. All it means is that you are now free to download, install, and run a number of anti-malware software (without having to deal with a bogged down machine).

This is great, you may be thinking. But how do I get into “safe mode”? All you need to do is restart you machine and then hit the F8 key as your computer loads up (before you see the Windows logo). If you have completed the procedure correctly you will notice the words “safe mode” in the corners of your screen. If not, you will have to restart and try the procedure again.

There you have it, if you ever come across a situation in which your computer is unusable due to a virus, simply boot it into safe mode and run your normal suite of removal products. It may not be a silver bullet cure; however, it will make the job a little bit easier to deal with.

Keith writes at Computer Repair Calgary on a variety of computer-related themes. One such theme is: how to deal with faulty RAM.

New antivirus hit the web marketplace very often. Most are just rehashes of what already there. However, Panda Cloud Antivirus distinguishes itself by being perhaps the first cloud-based antivirus on the security market.

Panda Cloud Antivirus is the first free cloud based Thin-Client Antivirus. It took almost 3 years to develop. Cloud-based antivirus is an interesting alternative to more conventional computer security solutions. Software is only partially installed on your system (thin-client) while core files reside on PandaLabs’ servers. It utilizes a constantly updated, real-time database of virus signature files retrieved from community users in the cloud in order to identify threats and protect your computer.

What is Cloud-Based Antivirus

Panda Cloud Antivirus is very easy to configure, and use. It scans files through Internet which makes it very light on system. It is extremely light as all the work is done in the cloud, so light that you won’t notice it is there.

Panda Cloud Antivirus is available in Free Edition or Pro Edition. Pro-Edition come with behavioral analysis of running processes, automatic vaccination of USB memory keys and hard drives, automatic and transparent upgrades, VIP support and no nagging screens.

You can download the latest version of Panda Cloud from http://www.cloudantivirus.com.
